The elegant interiors at The Kelusa are inspired by Bali's lush tropical jungles and recapture a bygone era of being close to mother nature. Natural materials such as teak woods and Bali Paras sandstones are used throughout the restaurant, blending harmoniously with the tranquil Payangan forest surroundings.

Chef Iwan at The Kelusa Restaurant in Ubud

Chef Iwan Sutrisno's love affair for cooking began in his childhood home's kitchen in Denpasar. "Back then, things were so simple, yet magical," Chef Iwan said as he recalled the times his mother combined exotic spices to cook his favourite traditional dish, 'pepes ikan' or steamed fish wrapped in banana leaves. He was only seven years back then.

Starting as Commis Chef at Amanusa, it did not take long until his talent and hard work took him to some of Bali's finest establishments such as Karma Kandara, Anantara Uluwatu, Bisma Eight and Samabe Villas.

Combining his years of expertise and passion in cooking, Chef Iwan brings innovative ideas to The Kelusa by fusing fresh local ingredients with modern cooking techniques. The results are a decadent display of taste and texture which celebrate modern flavours and Indonesia's culinary heritage.
